EAST CAPE, BAJA - ROUND 1

As a San Diego local, traveling to Baja is in your blood. From strike mission local Mex trips to crossing CBX and jumping a flight to BCS, it's necessary for your sanity. With two completely different bodies of water surrounding the Mexican peninsula, opportunities to target various species of fish is just a hop, skip, and jump from home. This makes Baja an ideal testing ground for the BAITSHIFTER. On our first trip to the East Cape, the almighty Roosterfish was the target. Known for their bulldog mentality, we knew we would have a battle on our hands. On our first day, the pangero captain immediately told us to throw the Bone colorway, as that was the color of choice. After three days on the panga, we learned more than Roosterfish like the Bone colorway. Dorado, Jack's, and Rooster's were all found to attach the small sized, Bone colored, BAITSHIFTER. After it was all set and done, the crew of pangero captains asked if we'd hand off some lures for their future endeavors. Obviously, we complied.

EAST CAPE, BAJA - ROUND 2

The East Cape of Baja is a special place. With schools of fish right off the beach, the possibilities are endless. These very fish are known to charge schools of bait onto the shoreline. Right time, right place, and it serves as the best "Run & Gun" fishery, in the most literal sense. Our second trip to the East Cape was to target fish from shore. We may have looked crazy running up and down the beach, taking shots at fish, but it was well worth it. After our first trip, we wanted to throw something other than the Bone colored BAITSHIFTER. Pleasantly to report, the Mack colorway (in size medium) worked just as well. Schoolie sized Jack's were the predominant catch, alongside the almighty Pez Gallo as a "bottom of the ninth" addition. Sprinting up and down a desolate Baja beach not only got us into shape, but verified our beliefs: the BAITSHIFTER hunts fish.
